More than merely the largest cross-laminated timber structure in Europe, the Gare Maritime on the Tour & Taxis site in Brussels is a sustainable project by Neutelings Riedijk Architects in collaboration with Bureau Bouwtechniek to convert what was once Europe’s largest freight station into a new district of the city.
CLOU Architects completed the new Shoukai Vanke Centre in Beijing’s Daxing district. It is an extensive, mixed-use development with a shopping mall, office tower and hotel. It has been designed with a focus on outdoor spaces, integral elements of this iconic architecture.
The new conference center, designed by gmp architects practice, was completed at the end of July in Xi’an. More than 3100 years old, this ancient Chinese city is located at the easternmost point of the ancient Silk Road. The practice founded by architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners won the 2017 competition to design the conference center which, together with their design for a dedicated Silk Road exhibition center, form a trade and industry hub in the province of Shaanxi.
